About linkage.studio

The studio is wherever our artists are.

linkage.studio is a member-created, community-rooted digital platform for the performing artists of the Linkage Community. Part recording studio, part performance venue, part socially engaged arts space — it captures the intimacy of the process and the energy of the stage, and grounds both in art that brings communities together to address what matters.

The art here is connected to something real. These artists aren't performing in a vacuum — they're responding to what's actually happening in their communities, in their own lives, in the world. And we, the people watching, aren't just spectators. It's art that starts conversations that need to happen and sparks positive social change.

That's what lives here.

01

An intimate recording studio

Behind the scenes. The making of. The conversation between takes. The process, not just the product — you should feel like you’re in the room.

02

A performance venue

Concert energy, high production quality. The kind of video that gets people pumped before an artist even plays a note. Worth showing up for.

03

A socially engaged arts platform

Linkage artists aren’t performing in a vacuum — they’re responding to what’s happening in their communities, their lives, the world. Art that starts conversations that need to happen. And the people watching aren’t just spectators. Movement happens.

All three at once. Not one at a time.

The community behind the studio

Born within the University of Michigan's Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP), the Linkage Community has grown into a vibrant, statewide collective of artists with lived experience of incarceration.

The Linkage Community forms a creative network with and for people directly impacted by incarceration. Together, we dismantle isolation, build bridges of opportunity, and connect through creativity.

The artists are the individual story and the collective force. Both. Always.
